Blogging is an interesting hobby...

Blogging is truly an interesting hobby. I was thinking about it the other day while wasting two hours of my life perusing Aura Joon's blog. I've never met Aura and I likely never will, but her pictures and her unique take on the world really tug at my heart strings. 30 years ago this would have never been possible. Technology is an amazing thing. I envied her ability to record the everyday to really be able to show how beautiful this world really is.

So, I've decided to start my own blog. I'm not sure who I will share it with yet (if anyone) but I doubt I will ever make it public for all to see. I just felt like I needed a place to vent, to celebrate, and to record my life as it passes. It seems the older I get the more quickly my life seems to slip by me. Despite my best efforts to live in the moment and really enjoy and cherish all of the many blessings that I have been given, I often find myself caught up in the daily grind. Wanting this, wishing I could do that. And really, what did that ever get anyone? Not a whole heck of a lot.

So, this blog is my humble attempt to appreciate the everyday. To remember that at the end of the day, what really matters is the footprint I leave on this earth when I am gone. We have a great, big, beautiful world, and I am so thankful to be a living, breathing part of it. And that is truly what each of us is. One part. One piece of a huge and magnificent and very much alive world. I hope to always remember my place in this world and to not take it, or this earth for granted.

As Gandhi once so elegantly put it,

May I live simply, that others may simply live.
